AMA with Sasha 14/6/24
Another week, another AMA session with the Waves’ founder Sasha Ivanov. This week, Sasha has prepared some updates on the ecosystem progress, answered lots of questions and had a live dialogue with the community members. Key Points:
- We continue to make progress towards the Units Network release. I was in Paris this week and spoke to several VC's.
- In the next few days the TestNet campaign will end and the TVL campaign will start. And I think that working with our marketing agency, which already has a number of successful launches under its belt, we will be able to run it successfully. So you can expect some new shows and podcasts in the near future.
- This week several TestNet Units bugs were fixed and we can move on to the gateway development.
Q & A
Q: Will the successful launch of Units Network help the situation with Vires Finance and -WXG assets?
Sasha: Of course, it will attract new liquidity into the ecosystem that will help resolve these situations.
Q: When should we expect this launch?
Sasha: I think the deadline is mid to late August.
Q: Could you clarify a little bit on the Waves strategy regarding the upcoming marketing campaigns? Or is it better for Waves not to generate much attention right now?
Sasha: The plan remains the same. Earlier during the massive FUD wave about XTN and Alameda it made sense to calm everyone involved down a bit. However, now with the launch of Units Network and the upcoming TVL campaign we should be more aggressive in terms of marketing.
Q: I really like that you have organized a Zealy campaign, however it seems to me that you are not using all the functionality that this platform offers.
Sasha: This is partly true. The core marketing team has integrated Zealy into Ambasador DAO, and this was their first experience. However, the marketing partners helping us with the launch of Units Network are using Zealy in their activities, and will be launching a separate Zealy page for Units Network.
Q: When do you think there will be the peak marketing activity for Units Network?
Sasha: I think mid July would be a reasonable time frame.
Q: Could you explain how Units Network is unique in its approach?
Sasha: You should keep in mind that the main goal of Units Network is to achieve scalability of the ecosystem, and I envision the approach that Units uses to achieve this goal is the final stage of its development. I think that gradually all L2 solutions will come to this mechanic. And our goal is to be the first to organize this solution.
Q: And what exactly still needs to be organized before the Units Network release?
Sasha: The Units Network gateways have yet to be organized and tested.
Q: Is there any list of projects that are planned to launch on Units Network?
Sasha: Several RWA projects are planning to launch their sidechain, there are also plans to launch an AI project, and several different DEx platforms. Several other onboarding projects are being launched right now. All of these releases will be announced almost immediately after Units Network launches.
Q: How about the transfer of XTN token from third-party networks? Is it progressing?
Sasha: Of course, however, the process is gradual and takes some time.
Q: Why would it be necessary to suddenly make an L2MP unlock from staking? It affects the price of the token!
Sasha: There are no ulterior motives here, some users at our AMAs were very outraged by the lock, and I think that if we get rid of this excessive pressure on the price before the Units Network launch, it will only benefit us.
Q: Is it possible to unlock XTN from vesting at Vires Finance in a similar fashion?
Sasha: Of course, this would even make the buyback more effective, but such a move requires community support. Perhaps there should be a vote.
Q: What was the outcome of your trip to Paris?
Sasha: A couple of videos, discussions of several VC proposals and a number projects that are interested in collaboration.
Q: Is Binance interested in Units Network?
Sasha: I can't say for sure, so far UNIT0 listings are scheduled on a number of other exchanges.
Q: What about the Waves DAO funding? Do you think over time Waves DAO should support itself with its own resources, instead of getting a part of the miners' income?
Sasha: I don't think this would be the most sensible solution, but if the launch of Units Network is successful, we could think about it.
Q: What do you think about WAVES on Korean exchanges? They already control almost 50% of the supply!
Sasha: I think we should pay attention to the Korean community. And I think we will start interacting with Korean Influencers soon.
