AMA with Sasha 23/8/24
Another week, another AMA session with the Waves’ founder Sasha Ivanov. This week, Sasha has prepared some updates on the ecosystem progress, answered lots of questions and had a live dialogue with the community members. Key Points:
- We have finally implemented the full functionality of the Units Network gateways on TestNet, so the core development is almost complete. The quests related to them will be added to Zealy next week.
- The next step in development now is Units DAO, but it won't take long.
- Units Network is still scheduled to launch in mid-September, no delays to be expected.
- As for the marketing and KOL campaign, it continues and is gaining momentum. I think that in the near future we will see even more events. For example, soon there will be announcements about partnerships with projects that will be launched on Units or will somehow integrate it. I'm also planning to speak at Blockchain Week in Seoul.
- The talk in Turkey was quite a success! Besides, in Turkey we managed to find a marketing company that will help us with promotion and an event in Korea in a week.
Q & A
Q: Will it be possible to trade fiat funds on WX.Network?
Sasha: Sure! However, the integration of fiat transactions will definitely take some time. Also next week we are expecting a number of very interesting announcements about WX.Network. For example, listing of WX token on exchanges outside the Waves ecosystem.
Q: What will be the utility of UNIT0 and what will it be backed by?
Sasha: It is essentially the main token of Units Network, which means it will be responsible for managing the ecosystem through its own DAO, and it will be necessary for launching new sidechains. Not to mention that it will be used to pay transaction fees on the Unit0 network.
Q: When should we expect the UNIT0 token to be listed on exchanges outside of the Waves ecosystem?
Sasha: Once the Units Network launches in September, you can expect listings too.
Q: I think it's the right time for a Russian-speaking AMA - is it planned?
Sasha: It is! Also next week we are expecting a KOL campaign among Russian-speaking members of the Waves community, so it's the perfect timing.
Q: What about releasing all the XTN tokens that are currently on Vires smart contracts, oversaturating the markets and buying them back at a more favorable price?
Sasha: We've discussed this idea before, but I'm not convinced of its feasibility. Since the goal is to repay the debts in the first place, distributing the collateral while intentionally lowering the price won't help anyone get their funds back. I think it would be more reasonable to let Vires Finance users vote in favor of such a measure.
Q: Will there be a KOL campaign among CIS communities?
Sasha: Such events are scheduled, and I plan to attend some of them.
Q: In the event that Feature 23 is not accepted, are there alternative ways to increase XTN buyback volumes?
Sasha: If Units Network successfully launches, I think we will have an opportunity to consider an XTN buyback through the DAO, which will help secure the treasury.
Q: Regarding Feature 23.The increased inflation will return to normal in about 6 months after its adoption, by which time the required amount of XTN will have to be bought back, right?
Sasha: Yes, that's right! In an ideal scenario, after a successful launch of the Units Network, it would be possible to adopt Feature 23, let the DAO treasury replenish for a successful initial launch, buy back XTN, attract new users with high APY stacking and then turn off WAVES issuance because miners will be mining Units sidechain tokens.
Q: What about the popular tokens in the TON network? Should we expect them to appear in the Waves network?
Sasha: It's best to check with the ecosystem gateway providers, the PEPE team. They will tell you which gateways and for which tokens they are preparing.
Q: What's the latest news on PETE?
Sasha: PETE is expecting an update next week! Both the website and mechanics.
Q: What about Power DAO? Is there any update in store?
Sasha: Yes, but for now we're still focused on finalizing Units Network. Once Units launches, you can expect a revamped whitepaper and a massive promotion of Mother DAO.
