AMA with Sasha 25/8/23

Another week, another AMA session with the Waves’ founder Sasha Ivanov. This week, Sasha has prepared some updates on the ecosystem progress, answered lots of questions and had a live dialogue with the community members. Key Points:

• The first Waves DAO Settlement finally happened today! Governors have received their participation awards, and I think we are ready to launch the new epoch in accordance with all KPI conditions and appropriate slashing. Next week, all the necessary preparations for this will have to be completed.
• The vote for the launch of Marketing DAO was successfully accepted and is waiting for the launch.
• There is also an idea and intention to transfer some goverment of already existing protocols to Power DAO. The best candidate for this, at the moment, is the Neutrino protocol. Since its last vote pointed out a number of flaws in its governance system (quorum was not reached despite the unanimity of all those who voted). I think this way it will get more attention and the problem will be solved.
• PETE staking. At the moment we are a bit behind with its release... I think it will be developed by Sunday and its release can be expected in the first days of next week. Along with it, there will be some NFTs released as well.

Q & A

Q: What about vesting on the V1 markets on Vires? Why hasn't it been launched yet?

Sasha: I think it would be very counterproductive to open V1 vesting now to recover the XTN price, I think that as soon as the XTN price reaches 10 cents, it makes sense to start vesting.

Q: How was the Waves DAO reward calculated?

Sasha: Since the past epoch was only a test run, this is more of a reward for participation rather than a calculated distribution of DAO's income. In the end, the revenue should have been somewhere around 50% for 3 months.

Q: What's the latest news on the development of the L2 network?

Sasha: Yes, it is steadily moving forward, but before the L2 release we will update the Waves blockchain (Waves 1.5), it will be interesting in its own right. For example, it will have a mechanism to create Lite Nodes that will not participate in mining, but will help accelerate the blockchain.

Q: Perhaps it's time to make a POWER airdrop for SURF holders?
Sasha: Yes, now would be a good time to do it. First, however, I will discuss with the developers the exact plan for SURF to regain its utility. 

Q: Which projects are next to submit proposals to the Waves DAO?

Sasha: Several projects want to submit proposals, but at the moment most of the funds in the treasury have already been distributed. So it will take some time to generate new funds from the WAVES issue.

Q: How did you use the $500K that you got from VC?

Sasha: I guess not everyone realized this, but these funds did not come to me, they will be spent on setting up a company in Turkey with the main task of promoting Waves. 

Q: Does Vires expect any proposals in the near future?

Sasha: As far as I remember the propozal to eliminate V1 markets has already been passed, so we are just waiting for the right time to start vesting.
