AMA with Sasha 28/7/23

Another week, another AMA session with the Waves’ founder Sasha Ivanov. This week, Sasha has prepared some updates on the ecosystem progress, answered lots of questions and had a live dialogue with the community members. Key Points:

• L2MP (previously known as MPT) swaps have started! This is an intermediary token between the Waves blockchain and the L2 blockchain of our ecosystem. At the moment, you can swap your XTN for it, but soon it will be possible to swap -WXG tokens as well.
• You may have also noticed PETE, the new meme Coin. It helps us with the -WXG buyback, as it increases the activity of trades, which in turn are subject to an increased commission of 1% in the same token. Also, certain events will be tied to its price. For example, when the price reaches $1, we will launch staking to distribute a part of the fee income. The first wallet that buys PETE at a price of 1$, will receive an NFT, which will give them the opportunity to receive 10% of the fees.

Q & A

Q: Any news regarding VC?

Sasha: We decided to change our approach to communicating with VCs a bit, and now we have dedicated people responsible for this.

Q: Will L2 Zero Knowledge be launched on L2 later?

Sasha: Yes, we have considered several options for ZK and decided that we should wait a bit longer with its implementation. I think that in about a year ZK will be more adapted to solve the tasks we are looking for.

Q: When will L2 start generating income? Will this income be generated solely from L2 transaction fees?

Sasha: Miners on L1 will receive a token native to L2 for block verification.

Q: Any news on NSBT? The swaps have come to a complete halt.

Sasha: I think the problem is the difference between the price of XTN on the market and the price of NSBT on the Neutrino protocol website. If this difference continues to increase, I think it will be reasonable not to buy XTN on the market and burn them, but to replenish the Neutrino treasury with WAVES.

Q: What about SURF?

Sasha: I think many in our community are unhappy with the performance of this token, so it would be wise to offer them a swap to L2MP.

Q: Is WCT going to be used in the L2 DAO?

Sasha: No, this functionality will be taken over by the L2 native token. WCT has been largely replaced by Power DAO, and has no functionality at the moment. 

Q: Will PETE help buy -WXG tokens back?

Sasha: Not directly, but yes. The buyback will include fees from its trades.

Q: Has the gradual unlock of WX from governance started yet?

Sasha: Not yet, the vote for that is still going.

Q: How do we follow the development of L2 blockchain?

Sasha: We will release a white paper with stagenet as the next step. I think we should wait for the testnet first.

Q: Is L2 testnet launched yet?

Sasha: Not yet. Before that (around September) there are plans to release Waves 1.5.

Q: Do you think Vires will return to its former glory?

Sasha: I think we should first finalize Vires V2 markets and lock its contracts. After that everything will be under community control.

Q: Will there be Solana gateways?

Sasha: Yes, definitely.
